The Newgrange Challenge:
In December of 2007 and 2008 the Office of Public Works (OPW) in Ireland awarded Inshot the contract to broadcast and webcast the
Winter Solstice at the pre-historic site in Newgrange in County Meath, Ireland.
The challenge was to capture “live” for the first time the spectacular winter sunrise as it entered the heart of the 5000 year old Tomb.
Technical Information:
The production involved Placement of Robotic cameras in 5000 year old tomb
• Cameras: 3 Robotic cameras in tomb,
• 2 Exterior operated cameras
• 1 Exterior Robotic camera
• Team of 4-5 people
• 6 channels of audio, Graphics
• Production from Distant Location
• Satellite Link to streaming service provider.
• Streamed via link on OPW site to viewers.

Newgrange Webcasts
Inshot has produced a DVD and is now on sale to the public through the OPW. It highlights the extraordinary achievement of Neolithic people in engineering the Tomb. High quality footage gathered from the webcast is included on this DVD.”
Outcome:
This project highlights an appetite for one-off events to be screened as live web streams.
In this case the target audience was quite niche and well spread across the globe making the internet the obvious media for delivering the content
